London Centre for Languages and Cultures Launch 2017

We are pleased to announce that the London Centre for Languages and Cultures Launch will take place on Thursday 30th November 2017 .The LCLC hub school, Westminster Academy, will play proud host to the event which will see guests attending from various link schools, universities and organisations in London and further afield.

Whilst last year’s launch focussed on ‘Languages and Identity’ this year’s launch event will focus specifically on the languages and cultures of East Asia. Participating students will be treated to taster sessions in Mandarin and Japanese, thanks to SOAS’s languages ambassadors. The keynote speech will be made by Filippo Cervelli from Oxford University’s Nissan Institute; his research on Japanese anime, manga and pop culture will be of interest to many aspiring linguists and teachers. There will also be a showcase by Westminster Academy’s very own Japanese Club.

The launch will mark the official start of the LCLC Academic Programme 2017-18 and will present the perfect opportunity for link school students and teachers to gain an insight into the sorts of activities that the LCLC provides for its Tri-Borough community.
